New York's sales milestone is not a cash forecast

The state has published big retail totals. Your drawer is still a local question.
The October 27 release
Governor Hochul's office announced on October 27, 2026 that regulated adult-use retail sales had passed $4.1 billion since December 2022. The release put retail sales through the third quarter of 2026 at $1.41 billion.
OCM said in 2026 that it was moving retail sales reporting toward a quarterly dashboard. Do not add an old monthly blog post to the October figures and call it official.
Cash at the counter
The release does not say what share of sales was cash. Operators still plan for customers who need cash on site. Full-service placement supplies the cash in the ATM for a qualifying location. It is not a bank account and not a promise of sales.
Federal scheduling and the SAFE Banking bills are discussed in the rules guide. They were not law in a way that removes the cash question. Call 973-452-4131 about the machine.
Questions from dispensary operators
Do these sales figures tell you the cash share?
No. The October 27, 2026 release reports retail sales. It does not say what share was cash.
